Why should I rent a camper when traveling in Faroe Islands?

Renting a camper van in the Faroe Islands is a cost-effective and uniquely immersive way to explore the islands. Instead of paying separately for a rental car and hotel nights, a camper van gives you everything in one place — transport, comfort, and flexibility at a better overall price. You can choose when and where to stop, cook your own meals, and enjoy the freedom of shaping each day exactly the way you want. More importantly, a camper van lets you experience Faroese nature in a way traditional travel can’t match. Wake up beside quiet fjords, enjoy your morning coffee with mountain views, watch the weather roll over dramatic landscapes, or stay a little longer when a place simply feels special. It’s a simple, authentic way to connect with the islands while still keeping your trip practical and budget-friendly.

Where do I park and camp in the Faroes?

There are roughly 20 camping sites in the Faroe Islands that offer restrooms and showers. Find a complete overview on www.camping.fo. and read this booklet for more information on camping sites,

Pricing is generally very reasonable, charging either the vehicle per night or person per night. Some of the sites offer online booking while for others a phone call or email will do. If hesitant, give the camping site a ring.

This is also a great way to meet new people – locals and visitors alike – and perhaps get some good tips from fellow travelers.

Please note that camping is only permitted in designated camping areas. Camping outside designated camping sites is illegal and can result in fines.

Parking is free in the Faroe Islands on public parking spots, just be mindful of potential time limits to avoid tickets. Look for a blue sign at the parking spot that indicates the allowed parking time and set the timer on the disc located on the front window of the passenger side to the time of parking.

What should I bring with me for the campervan trip?

Where can I pick up and drop off my camper van?

Pickup and drop-off are exclusively at Vágar Airport, with a DKK 360 fee. This covers required licenses and parking, allowing us to operate legally. Instead of increasing daily rental prices, we charge a one-time fee.

Transport to and from the airport is quick and affordable by bus or airport shuttle. Visit ssl.fo for bus schedules or taxi.fo for shuttle services.

Pickup and drop-off are available daily from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm.

What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?

The booking fee, amounting to DKK 2.000, is non-refundable. Reservations may be rescheduled without incurring additional fees, provided that this change is requested no less than 48 hours prior to the scheduled pick-up date. Please note, however, that rescheduling is subject to the availability of our vehicles. Given the size of our fleet, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate rescheduling requests, but we assure you that we will make every effort to do so.

Do the campervans have heaters?

Our Premium XL and Premium camper vans come equipped with fully independent heating systems that operate without the need to run the vehicle’s engine—provided the leisure battery is charged. This ensures you’ll stay warm and comfortable all night long, even after a full day of exploring the great outdoors.

Our Medium camper vans feature a built-in parking heater with a convenient controller attached to your keychain. When activated, the heater runs for one cycle until the van is warm. Due to factory settings, the next heating cycle won’t be available until six hours later. We recommend using the van’s engine to heat the interior before bedtime. If you need extra warmth during the night, simply activate the built-in heater for a boost of comfort
